The Highest Degree Vs The Final Degree...!!

Hey... Its been a while since I updated this blog, but I encountered something today and just couldnt resist putting up here.

It was my first day at my new office. I was hoping that I would meet new people and expand my network, but it didnt exactly go how I had pictured it to. I was surrounded by people who had come to Office to complete their joining formalities in Slippers.. Pathetic..!!!

Then there was a 'Kodak Moment of the Day'. The HR rep was checking our documents and suddenly I heard the rep's voice:'I am amazed Ramaprasad how have you made so far in IT industry'. This guy was seated besides me a few minutes back and I remember looking at his form. He had scored 82% marks in his 'Highest Degree' and I appreciated him for that.

He was apparently in a verbal spat with the HR rep over something that left me stunned. In the place reserved for Highest Degree details, he had filled in his marks from the 4th year only. When HR Rep tried to explain it to him, he said 'My Highest Degree was my 4th year of college. If you wanted the aggreagate B.Tech percentage you should have asked for the 'Final degree' instead.. I was completely dumbstruck..!!!

I had witnessed another legendary performance from yet another Hyderabadi...!!! After all HYDERABAD IS LIKE THAT ...!!!

Cheers,
Nikhil

Hyderabad's like that..!!

Dec 2008.. On the day of assembly elections in New Delhi...
In my office lift two Hyderabadis talking to each other:
1st Guy: I heard that there are elections going on in Delhi today..
2nd : Yeah.. and along-with that being in the NCR region, Gurgaon and Noida are also having their elections..(Wow, I thought, so at least they know that there is a NCR region but dont knw that elections are held state-wise.. I chose not to interrupt..)
1st Guy: Are you sure.. ? How can it be possible.. Gurgaon and Noida are two separate states na..
(I smiled and was wondering where this conversation might be heading..)
2nd Guy: Who told you.. Noida is a separate state, but Gurgaon is part of New Delhi. So Gurgaon will have elections when they are held in New Delhi....
(Ohh.. So this was where it was heading to... Coool..!! I lived in delhi for 20-odd years and didnt know that there's a separate New delhi state too... :P )
